How do I know this fits my car?
Look at the back of your current plain key with chip, or inside the battery cover. If the part number or the FCC ID printed there matches the one in the specifications on this page, it’s the right part.
Lost your key, or can’t read it? Type your VIN when you order and we check it before we ship. Your VIN is on your registration, insurance card, or the driver-side bottom of the windshield.
Do I need to program it, and how much does that cost?
Yes, a new key or remote has to be programmed to your car before it works. How depends on the year and trim: on some you do it yourself at the car with a short sequence of key turns and button presses (the steps come with it, no tool, no cost); on others a locksmith or dealer connects a programming tool. Send us your VIN and we’ll tell you which before you buy.
Will my old keys still work?
Bring every key you want to keep using when the new one is programmed. On many cars programming clears any key that isn’t there at the time.
What if it doesn’t work with my car?
Call us first. Most problems are solved on the phone. If the part doesn’t fit or won’t program to your car, you can return it within 30 days. See our return policy.

About this part
If you have two keys that start your Jeep then you will be able to perform programming yourself. If you have less than two keys that start your Jeep then you'll need an automotive locksmith to program your Jeep to accept new keys using special equipment. This is a Genuine Jeep Rock transponder key. The Y164PT Jeep Rock Keys is grey in color. The Y160PT Jeep Rock Key is tan in color. Have your local locksmith cut the key to work your vehicle (and do programming if you don't already have two working keys.)
