What happens after you order

  1. We check it and ship it. We pick your part by its part number and ship it from our New Jersey warehouse, with tracking. Added your VIN? We check the part against your car first and contact you if anything doesn’t match.
  2. Program it to your car. Not sure how your car does it? Call or email us with your VIN and we’ll tell you before you buy.
  3. Get the key cut. The metal blade comes uncut, so a locksmith cuts it to match your locks. It’s usually done in the same visit as programming.
  4. Done. Still stuck? We help. Call 386-586-3650 or email help@remotesandkeys.com. If it won’t work with your car you have 30 days to return it.

Questions before you buy

How do I know this fits my car?

Look at the back of your current plain key with chip, or inside the battery cover. If the part number (H92PT, 5913441) or the FCC ID printed there matches the one in the specifications on this page, it’s the right part.

Lost your key, or can’t read it? Type your VIN when you order and we check it before we ship. Your VIN is on your registration, insurance card, or the driver-side bottom of the windshield.

Which condition should I choose?

All conditions do the same job in your car: same buttons, programmed the same way. The difference is how it looks and what it costs.

  • OEM New (Ford Logo): a genuine factory part from the car maker, never used. The same as the dealer’s, usually for less.
  • OEM New (Ford Blue Logo): a genuine factory part from the car maker, never used. The same as the dealer’s, usually for less.
  • Aftermarket New: a new copy built to the same spec, without the car maker’s logo. The lowest price.
Do I need to program it, and how much does that cost?

Yes, a new key or remote has to be programmed to your car before it works. How depends on the year and trim: on some you do it yourself at the car with a short sequence of key turns and button presses (the steps come with it, no tool, no cost); on others a locksmith or dealer connects a programming tool. Send us your VIN and we’ll tell you which before you buy.

Will my old keys still work?

Bring every key you want to keep using when the new one is programmed. On many cars programming clears any key that isn’t there at the time.

What if it doesn’t work with my car?

Call us first. Most problems are solved on the phone. If the part doesn’t fit or won’t program to your car, you can return it within 30 days. See our return policy.

How fast will I get it?

In-stock orders placed by 3 pm ET on a business day ship the same day from New Jersey, with tracking. Shipping options and prices are shown at checkout before you pay.

About this part

This transponder key had a supercession. The original key was called H84PT 599114 164-R0475 and it had a 40 bit chip (4D63 Texas Crypto 3rd Gen.) The new key is called H92PT 5913441 164-R8040 and it has an 80 Bit chip.

Vehicles from 2000-2009 used the old key originally but Ford intends for the new key to be used in it's place now that they discontinued the old key. Vehicles 2010 and newer can only use an 80 Bit key.

Have a local automotive locksmith cut the key to work the vehicle. If you have two keys already that work to start the engine then you can program additional keys yourself using the procedure below. If not then you will need an automotive locksmith to program the vehicle to accept the new key by scan tool.

To add additional keys to your vehicle:

1. Insert working key #1 into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition to ON (RUN) and back to OFF.
3. Remove key #1 and within 5 seconds insert working key #2 and turn it to ON (RUN) then back to OFF.
4. Insert the key you want to program before 10 seconds have elapsed, and turn it to ON (RUN). Leave it ON for 1 second and turn back to OFF.
5. The security light will light up for 3 seconds to indicate programming has been successful.
