Do I need to program it, and how much does that cost?
Yes, a new key or remote has to be programmed to your car before it works. This one has no do-it-yourself sequence: a locksmith or dealer connects a programming tool to the car. Prices vary by area, so call one or two automotive locksmiths for a quote; they are usually cheaper than the dealer.
Will my old keys still work?
Bring every key you want to keep using when the new one is programmed. On many cars programming clears any key that isn’t there at the time.

How to program it: Programming Procedure #802
- Switch ignition to the ON position (as far as it goes without cranking the engine) with the first key.
- Leave the key in the ignition, exit the vehicle, and close the driver door.
- Mechanically LOCK the driver door using the second key.
- Within 5 seconds (with the remote you want to program) press the UNLOCK button at one second intervals the number of times corresponding to the memory position you want to program it to.
- Memory 1: Press UNLOCK button once within 5 seconds of step 3.
- Memory 2: Press UNLOCK button twice within 5 seconds of step 3.
- Memory 3: Press UNLOCK button 3 times within 5 seconds of step 3.
- Memory 4: Press UNLOCK button 4 times within 5 seconds of step 3.
- Wait 5 seconds then press the UNLOCK button once more.
- Switch ignition OFF then press LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the new remote.
- Test remote for function.
